Troubleshooting
What Croppy's messages mean and how to fix them. Messages are quoted as they appear in the plugin.
Sources and sizes
Croppy says there is nothing on the page
“No frames or images on this page”
Add a visible frame, component or image layer to the current page. Croppy only looks at the page you are on.
A layer I want is missing
Layers inside a frame are part of that frame's image. Give the layer an export setting, or select it and use Crop Selection. Hidden layers are always skipped.
Insert into Figma is greyed out
“Select at least one size in the sidebar.”
Tick at least one source and at least one size.
A custom size will not add
“Only one side can be Auto.”
Give at least one side a number. Sizes must be whole numbers from 1 to 8192.
Running a batch
The trial says my run is too big
“This run has 24 images. Free trial runs make up to 20.”
Untick some sources or sizes, or unlock Pro.
Too many images for one run
“A ZIP download is limited to 5,000 images per run.”
Split the work into smaller runs. Inserting into Figma is limited to 500 images per run.
Some outputs are skipped
“exceeds the 8192 px per side limit”
That size is too large for that source. Other outputs still run. Lower the size, or see Limits.
Settings are not saved
“Settings could not be saved. The file may be view-only.”
Ask for edit access to the file, or duplicate it to your drafts.
Croppy could not load the page
“Croppy could not load this page”
Click Try again. If it keeps happening, close Croppy and run it again.
Crops and quality
Face focus did not use a face
“No face found, so Smart focus was used.”
Face focus works best when faces fill a fair part of the image. Try Anchor focus or a manual crop for wide shots.
Small text looks blurry
JPG softens fine type. Switch the format to PNG. Croppy suggests this when a source contains text.
Inserted images look softer than the download
Figma stores images at up to 4096 px per side. Use Export ZIP for full-resolution files.
I cannot choose Transparent
JPG has no transparency. Switch the format to PNG first.
License and activation
Key not found
“That license key was not found.”
Copy the key again from your receipt email, including every dash.
Key is on too many devices
“This key is already active on 2 devices.”
On a device you no longer use, open Croppy, click the Pro badge and choose Remove license from this device. Then try again.
Key is not active
“This license key is not active.”
The key may have been refunded or disabled, or a yearly plan may have ended.
Croppy cannot reach the license server
“Croppy could not reach the license server.”
Check your internet connection and try again. Pro keeps working offline for 7 days after the last successful check.
Pro stopped working after time offline
“Croppy could not confirm your Pro license.”
Connect to the internet, then click Check license in the banner.
